Terroir composed of clay deposits and scree of pink Vosges sandstone (Tertiary origin). It is not uncommon to find boulders and large sandstone rocks just a few centimetres from the surface.
The plots are located to the south and east of the village, mid-slope, at an altitude of between 235 and 300 metres.
The marl adds aromatic intensity, while the sandstone adds complexity and freshness with a lingering salinity.
The wines are complex, saline and gastronomic.
